Sandia National Labs Academic Programs Collaboration Report

New strategic partnership enables substantive national impact

CONTRIBUTOR Spotlight

In October 2021, Ruby Booth, a National Security systems analyst and cybersecurity subject matter expert, presented an invited lecture on the cyber conflict landscape at UC Berkeley to the Nuclear Policy Working Group (NPWG). NPWG is an educational programming effort that brings together scholars from the technical and social sciences to explore issues in nuclear weapons policy.

In 2022, Sandia and UC Berkeley set up a strategic partnership with the express purpose of combining strengths to tackle problems that neither institution could solve alone. The identified target areas have the potential to make substantive national impact and provide the basis for implementing increased interactions and collaborations. This partnership will be characterized by multiple levels of engagement focused on enhancing collaboration between principal investigators (PI) on LDRD projects, developing a sustainable workforce, and accelerating technology adoption. The partnership also holds the potential to increase jointly held Intellectual Property, leading to a greater scale of technology dissemination for the p ublic good.
